Ads that are impersonating TPB

When searching for a torrent today I saw the following "results" (image is showing the "about" page, but it also shows up in torrent search results):



As you can see it mimics very well as if it was an actual torrent result. There are several variations of this one, including a few written in my native language Portuguese, in which it shows my IP and location in an attempt to convince me that I'm "being watched" and that torrenting is not safe without a VPN. Very unlikely that this is a legit TPB thing.

It's not a legit TPB thing.  It's an ad.  Those ads have been there for quite a while now.

Best to use an ad blocker when visiting TPB, or any other site for that matter.

If it has been known for a long time, why haven't they been blocked from appearing? TPB owners don't give a damn about user security or being impersonated?

On the contrary. TPB does give a damn about user security and isn't being impersonated. It has encouraged the use of VPN's (and ad blockers) since long before it advertised them.

In any case, that ad is a) just an ad and b) not going to be removed.

Get used to it. Ignore it. Or, better still, get yourself an ad blocker.
