hi i am thinking of buying kindle paperwhite but i have heard that it doesnt run non amazon books like those downloaded from piratebay and pdf filea is it true if yes which other ereader should i buy

I have not used a kindle. But the technical details has this.
Formats Supported: Kindle Format 8 (AZW3), Kindle (AZW), TXT, PDF, unprotected MOBI, PRC natively; HTML, DOC, DOCX, JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP through conversion The Kindle Paperwhite may not be able to open an EPUB file which is what you find most often in torrents. But you can convert it to MOBI using a free software like 'Calibre' and transfer them to your Kindle.
