I currently use a dual-boot setup between Windows XP and Linux Mint 17.3, where I play games using the Windows XP partition and Mint for work.
I am currently finding a better way, one that I can play games and go back to work without restarting.
Using Virtualbox, I am planning to install a Windows XP setup to run games and this Windows XP setup will be within Mint 17.3. Furthermore, I intend to play LAN games when friends/relatives come over. Now, I already said that I'm installing Unreal Tournament 2004 within the Windows XP system. One of my questions is this: how much memory should a 1GB computer like this one reserve when doing all games-playing, LAN networking or otherwise?
I would have used Wine on Mint 17.3, but I won't for two reasons: Wine is terrible at emulating anything, and it can't run Direct X for some *****ing reason; I heard it's got to do with the video card. You see, the video adapter is embedded within the motherboard, and, even though there is an AGP slot, it's not going to make any difference since AGP cards aren't sold in stores any more.
Altogether, would I even succeed?
