Should the day ever arrive where I will *need* Win10 on one of my deskptops (I already have it on a Laptop, normally OFF) - I am looking for guides and scripts to strip it down to bare basics.
Yank out everything not needed than to provide basic Win2000 functionality, but at least being able to run Win10 programs, especially from Adobe.
My idea of security is NOT Redmonds, so *all* Win security has to go. Along with telemetry, Active Directories, and even their Cortona client - if possible.
Has anyone ever attempted this?
I have a decent older Win10 release in cold storage, so the version is not the issue.
The Blackviper site has some good baby steps to do this, but ideally I am looking for something with hacked kernel dll's.

I'm not sure what and where to start is a huge challenge. Just thought I'd mention that there's something in Cortana and I can't seem to do anything about it. Something along the lines of there's registry entries and they seem to re-enable themselves on their own. There are ways you can stop them by using 3rd party software but after some time they just bounce back again. I don't really like using Cortana much but it seems that they tend to watch a lot of things that people use going through their Windows searches.
I guess people all computer in their own way, I know that I do. I always go the legit way with Win10, I don't usually involve much but have tried some stuff like Adobe and it worked for me. The key area obviously has a lot to do with the Hosts file and it's key to making sure the system has it locked so it can't write and change things around. Having certain anti virus can also help to block the Hosts file, I've noticed Avira anti virus will do this but other companies don't. Just make sure you've got your list all up to date so you're blocking a huge amount of servers. I know with 3rd party programs they can block all these for you so you don't have to do all the massive work involved. I just keep my Hosts file blocked from system access and then you can stop Win10 in huge amounts.
All this Windows 10 networking, it's about turning on services that have been turned off then it can work.
I know you're into all your Linux world, I just live with the Windows world really but I use my machine in either 2 ways normally, 1 for legit use and 1 for pirate use. If I'm going to pirate I make sure I'm doing everything possible to block as much as I can and I can only learn more and more as times goes on. I'm not much of a programmer or anything but I understand certain things.
It seems a big problem really does Windows 10 but since I always keep it updated and use a legit Windows and Anti Virus it seems to work fine. Some Win10 machines tend to have this issue with Cortana more and the search seems to leak results of things people are looking for on their PC which is annoying and I hope this doesn't work worse in the near future

The thing is, I insist on *personalizing* everything here. Win or Lin, nothing I have would even be recognizable as a 'standard' distribution. The Win10 laptop looks like XP. Debian is hacked 7 ways to Sunday.
We seem to be missing a community of real crackers. A few still know how to find and put NOPs in registration validation portions of DLLs, but the folks who do the equivalent of 'kernel hacking' on the win platform seem to be gone. One would expect them outside the grasp of the 5 Eyes, like in Minsk - and they probably are there. But not sharing anything without hefty fees for stuff like Zeus.
I have a huge Hosts file, but keep in mind that at the telemetry level M$ bypasses it. It apparently tunnels through a VPN. I disable all M$ based protocols and with OpenVPN can turn off their VPN protocols. That and killing off all RDP services.
I *believe* that is what keeps me overall safe, on a system that should theoretically be a honeypot.
Thing is, sit me down at an Out-of-Box system and I am kind of lost. A 10 year old knows more about how to navigate the Win file system than I do. I have always used my own. Since DOS 3.0.
If ReactOS ever becomes a reality, I dont know if parts of it can be switched out on a standard Win system. Replaceable, and reprogramable DLLs would be ideal. I woould especially want my Win7 to be able to spoof Win10 for key apps. There was an attempt to do that with XP, and had some success, but a key DLL seemed to have disappeared. And the source I did find would not compile here.
I believe newer is better, only if it there is an actual performance increase without undesired tradeoffs, or if new functions and abilities are actually needed.
It works out to a cost/benefit ratio.
I want Win10's larger environment variable space.
But not at the cost of the additional hassles and garbage.

It would be fun to have a completely squeeky clean Win10 system. I'm sure that's what everybody wants, sadly though I have never had the experience or teachings on how to re-program DLL files so I wouldn't have a clue, it all sounds a bit advanced for me. I just used 3rd party software in the *hope* that I get the best protection going.
I'm sure everybody out there would like to Pirate in peace and do as they want. I have been going for years now, never had any trouble, never had any letters or emails. Nobody has ever bothered me about what I do on Win systems. I guess even on Win7 there would have been the same kind of back doors that you're talking about, it's just that people didn't really think about those back doors.
I've been doing Pirating now for many years and had no trouble at all. I just pirate along and continue doing what I want to do and nobody seems to care at all.
It's all a learning curve really anyway. I can only usually do complicated things when I have the right kind of teacher to show me the ropes and show how it's done. Without that available information then I'm just left clueless. I have been taught in the past but these teachings were mainly in Hardware related issues and not programming so really I have limited resources and limited ability.
To be honest I'm not all that bothered about trying to hack Win10, yes it does take a while to set up for myself but I just do this in my own fashion. I know everybody does things in their own way, that's just life really. We all have our ways. Without having any programming knowledge then I don't know how you are supposed to protect yourself in this day and age but thankfully I've never had any bother and I've been active now for many years and really nobody has given a damn at all about what I do.

One of the advantages of hacking a system to its bones with a cyber-machete is that it can greatly increase system speed and efficiency. Rip out the garbage services and effectively give new life to an old machine. Security is an apparent additional bonus.
The way I see it is that the Korps like M$ are determined to make it more difficult for hacker and warez types, so it is best to yank out as much as their malware as possible.
I believe Win10 folks are starting to see problems with saving *files*? My gawd. Utterly unacceptable. Mostly I do not even use the Win 'Active Directory' structure.
Keep in mind that programming is not really necessary to hacking. I cant write squat for a script in any language. But the main thing is being able to find a working script of something that does something similar to wanted , and scratch and peck at it until something works, using my google brain. And go from there.
Scripting should be quite helpful in multimedia. In renaming, in scheduling torrents. A whole lot of stuff. Something as simple as batch files written to upload files with a program with switches modified for specialized function that may be needed.
I have some decent guides to registry hacking, but the examples that they give are usually for silly stuff, like personalizing the desktop. Meh. I want stuff to give me full control over everything. I've been doing pretty well on that, with a few more steps to climb on that. I want complete and total access to all my drives and folders across my network without any passwords for WinXP to Win10.
That kind of stuff.
The great thing is the 'portable' apps, which can be made to pretty much avoid the registry. Works rather neat for Office Apps.
Point being: Its more than about spyware.
Its about the ability to say:NO
Like when M$ and even Linux decided to come up with desktop GUIs that looked like phones. With 'gadgets' .
Nope. Set it back to 'classic' (usually without an existing 'option') . Sped the system up, as there was a lot less wasted *****U cycles.

... True.
I'm also waiting for this kind of OS to get to the gamma version.
I'm tired of always changing settings when reinstalling or updating, just to avoid any kind of telemetries.
There is also another, Subgraph OS. but this one is Linux.

Keep on dreaming guys...
Tiny7 was the end of it. I suppose Billie got the kid by the balls.
Frequent massive updates and on-line services are the name of the game now.

I have a new SSD coming soon so I want to try Windows 10 LTSC. Has anyone tried this as a home user? Can it be done?

Like he said in the video, no good if you're doing certain kinds of gaming and also for new hardware you might have problems trying to get things to work and drivers to run. It really depends on the kind of system you are wanting to run and for what usage. IMO having an SSD will greatly introduce massive speed into your system anyway so really having Windows 10 LTSC might not be a good choice but at the end of the day the decision is yours.
