Recommendations for video converters

I've been toying with some video converters to see what quality I can get. I came across a torrent that was better than the rest. I was wondering what video converter is used to make this type of video quality?

It's a DVD file. I think the author copied the disc verbatim (the term, not the brand) or used AnyDVD to rip the DVD.

what dvd? it's an HDTV source.

Yeah it's not a DVD rip. There must be a video converter that makes this actual HD feature.

IMO, handbrake is about as good as it gets. Best of all, it's not bloated expensiveware. It is pretty good straight up as it comes (the way I use it), but I am fairly sure people out there have tweaked with the advanced settings here and there until they have found a group of settings that work real well with whatever they are transcoding.

With that said, use MediaInfo (https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo) on your file(s). It "may" give you some clues as to what was used in some cases.

I've tried Handbrake. It was complicated for me. Xmedia Recode is more easier for me. I also like Freemake Video Converter. I've put the correct settings when trying to give a boost to give it the high quality of the torrent I showed, but couldn't get it to look exactly the same. I think I'll stick with Xmedia Recode.

I need help

I used handbrake and then i want to take that mp4 file into my video software and prepare for burning, but it's having issues.

so, I tried the xmedia recode, it did the mpeg file, but the video software i have by magix MEP is blank on the video. I am dealing with magix on it, they said to convert it to mpeg. but it won't do it, keeps hanging it up. I have done other successfully with just handbrake.

it seems to be this particular television series......I don't know what to do, so upset, can anyone help??
