Rakim , KRS1, or Kool G rap
#1
Or whoever you think is the best rapper.

I'm gonna drop the stupid aidz posting against my friends to ask a serious question:

Who is the rapper that influenced you the most. I have too many to name, but I got into almost a fistfight with a neighbor (who would have KICKED my ass because he's bigger than what I used to be.) Convo went like this:
Me: "Ya, Rakim is the one who changes rap forever, but I think G Rap is much better, he twists his rhymes everyway including up"
friend: "what the *****? He's so unclear and slurry, you think he;s saying something because you just can't understand him."
Me: " ***** that, I you tubed the lyrics, and I learn something new every..."
Friend: cutting me off " I should beat your ass on principal. Rak. is from Brooklyn, G rap is a bitch from queens"  Friend is from Brooklyn... Actually 2 friends I made from the new apt are from there... different way of life, although they BOTH said Philly is a tougher place to be....
Me: :"I'm not taking anything from Rak... he's my top 5 EASY, but I like G rap more."
Friend:" BITCH, you don't know nothing about rap.... Actually, cool J and KRS were clearer, they were influentian too. They got you white folks into rap"
me: laughing!!  "you're RIGHT! my 1st ccassette (yes I said cassette) was LL Cool J's BAD... Cool J fan until the end.

Do you agree with him or me.. .NOW, I didn't say anything about Rakim, just that he came out 1st, and if G rap came out 1st, he'd have Rakim's notoriety.

2nd album bought: Stetsasonic!!!! Those jazzy MFers played with real instruments... in fact. Today is a stet day...

They are right... The sampling brought back the classics. No matter what you say... They got ME into the classics too... Shit I would have missed out on if I didn't hear the sample 1st...

TRASH?? MAN!!!!!!!!

Do you think THIS is trash. answer honestly, putting aside your personal opinion of me for a second:

Keep in mind this is from 1988. When lyrics we're like "hip hip hop , yo we bop bop, da hippety hippey..." you get it. The beats weren't as sophisticated as this.  KRS was at a time I believe the beats were starting to match the lyrics...Birthing the golden age of rap. His clear delivery would have put him at the top of the lyrical list if Rakim didn't come first..

Speaking of...

Note the beat here is more of the hip hop hippety type, but the lyrics are definitely NOT!! This was 1987...

when The sugar hill gang was rapping about spaghetti, Rakim comes out with shit like:

"So Imma let my knowledge be born to a perfection,
all praise is due to Allah, and that's a blessing
with knowledge of self there's nothing I can't solve
at threehundred and sixty degrees I revolve
This is actual fact, this ain't an act,
it's been proven. INDEED as I proceed to make the
crowd keep movin.
"

You can't hear that type of intelligence from most rappers NOW (almost 30 years later)

And finally:

My favorite of all three. I believe just as lyrically intelligent as Rakim, Better than KRS, but one thing i'll admit is , to appreciate what he does lyrically, you have to listen a few time, since his lisp makes him hard to understand.  BEST alltime rap storyteller... This is a good example.. I believe, this is 1989...

Not saying these 3 are the best of all time, but these were the ones me and my neighbors were arguing about.
