This is one for the history books, the movie was apparently not completed when originally shot on film and then finished a few years later on tape for release on VHS. The fine folks at AGFA (who just surfaced Guy From Harlem, praise be) have restored the film from its original film negatives and patching in workprint/VHS footage where needed so it matches the feature we know and love. This isnt some revelatory HD upgrade but the jump from VHS to 16mm is pretty damn big. I really love what those heroes are doing over there... and luckily they made my job pretty easy.
I only had to adjust the audio tempo to compensate for the jump to 24fps on the blu ray and line it up, no fuss no muss. Since it was a damn near perfect lineup for the audio, i decided to add the official Rifftrax subtitles for kicks. There are some minor video differences in this release like the opening credits being missing, so you'll hear the riff about Georges Cardona but not see his name (sidenote: old Georges sure got around, he was the cinematographer for not only The Last Slumber Party but also... David Duke's campaign commercials? You cant make this shit up)
As shitty as the movie is objectively, its got a surreal/dream vibe which i always appreciate. Of course, that vibe is probably just a product of the movie being made by inept morons but still. Enjoy!
