There are so many classics that's really dificult to pick one but by genre lets see...

MMORPG: Ultima Online/ WoW / Atlantica / Gunz Online / Elsword
PointNClick: The Longest Journey / Planescape Torment
FPS: Call of Duty series hands down
Horror: Resident Evil 1-3 / Silent Hill / F.E.A.R
Fantasy/Sci-Fi: Final Fantasy series / Grandia series / Wild Arms / Shadowrun series / Fall Out / Wasteland / Metal Gear Solid series
Action: Street fighter series / Mortal Kombat series
Arcade: Mario 64 and Sonic

These are just a few that poped into my mind but definitly favorites of all time.

Exterminatus, play Serious Sam First Encounter and Second Encounter. Classic versions, you can get for cheap from gog dot com . Those are pinnacle of FPS... I remember how bored I was playing Call of Duty after.

(opinions of course, but if you did not play them you should try!)



About the topic, recently I started playing Giana Sister Twisted Dreams, and I am loving it. It is high in my favorite games list even if usually I do not like platformers.

Vagrant story and FF Tactics will always charmed me in ways newer games cant do...

Those games tell you that is not necesery high graphics if you could tell a very well story.

Nowadays all the games that come out are short lived and unnimaginative, hell, i beat diablo 3 in less than a day, battlefield 3 in 2 hours and max payne in 3.... Single player mode is dead nowadays, and that make me sad.
