BUG SEARCH : Found search bug that crashes the server

CODE BUG

I was looking up a show and happen to look at the URL ,which got me wondering what would happen if i changed the % that is a space to that symbol so i searched

"rick and morty 02%E07'

the server gave me the 400 bad request NORMAL
The search error reads "Search results: rick and morty S027 No hits. Try adding an asterisk in you search phrase"

"rick and morty S027"

which i thought is weird because the search bar has input validation for characters,
so why not put the "" symbol in the search bar, to see what happens

so i searched

 "rick and morty S027%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%"
and the site crashed

sorry for the user stupidly, and bad writing.
i hope you guys see this, so fixing the bug wont crash site in the future

If it really crashed the server, you wouldn't be able to visit any other pages.

also, the "url-symbol" for (White)space is %20, not just %., so your search was incorrect to begin with

I highly doubt that just searching (with any characters), can crash a website.

i think it might have crashed your connection to the site, cause i aswell highly doubt that will crash the website itself Smile

Valid points, I did check a website uptime checker to see if the website was down, which showed the site being down. At 12:00pm-1:30am last night, but hey you guys could be right.
Also I think without further testing to conferm or deni it's possible.

theoretically could a search crash the site? Hope not.

New security leaks and injectors come out every day.
When I used to develop websites it was overwhelming trying to keep up with new security methods and trying to come up with possible circumvention.

Is it possible crash a site from searching? Yes, but extremely unlikely if you just did a standard search.
