Thanks so much for all of these. Been loving Last Drive In and am so looking forward to these!

This mega remastered collection is incredible. I am overwhelmed by the efforts put into this collection, we all owe a huge debt of gratitude to runrunbill and the people that ripped their collections.

I've had a look at stuff I've acquired over the years and I have "Wizard of *****" and "Something Weird" from the sleaziest movie range. Is it worth me uploading to a mega or gdrive for someone to remaster and add the to big folder?

Also, the youtube user "Josh Hadley" is the podcaster and owner of 1201beyond. On digging around I see that he has previously listed his JBB collection and email address for contact -
reddit [DOT] com/r/redditbay/comments/2t7uun/joe_bob_briggs_monstervisiondrive_in_theater/
There is a lot of episodes on there that appear to be missing. I have sent him an email to see what he wants for the archives (I suspect $$$), then we can see what's possible.

Thanks again to everyone!

PS - On a tangentally related note I have a fair amount of full USA Up All Night! episodes that would be good guides for remastering. Please get in touch if there's are of interest (I remember reading somewhere that runrunbill was also going through these, but I don't have access to the snahp.it forums).

i registered for an account here just to say THANK YOU to everyone doing the lord's work and "remastering" these old episodes. i'm not at all technologically savvy, but i want to contribute to this project in whatever feasible way. if that means kicking in some dough to access additional archives from private collectors, i'm in.

i was inspired by some of the posters here and i decided to "restore" one of my favorite flicks ever covered on monstervision: the salem's lot tv miniseries directed by tobe hooper.

i need to stress that i am a total newb at this. i'm not using nearly the same fancy video editing programs that others may be using. i threw this sucker together using friggin' quicktime. not even quicktime PRO but the free version. i hope that this is an improvement on the version of salem's lot that's out there now, with the SD quality and the skewed aspect ratio. my version fixes both, using an HD 1080p blu-ray rip and all of it accurately presented at 4:3 aspect ratio.

it's a little bloated at 11gbs, but i couldn't reduce it any further without sacrificing video quality or forcing the audio to go off sync. plus, the total video file runs for 3 hrs and 20 mins, so it's not THAT far off the mark.

if anyone has video editing programs that can reduce file size without messing with the video integrity too badly, i'd invite you to reduce this file and repost it.

salem's lot: the complete miniseries (1979) - 1080p mov

Something Weird is on my need list from MonsterVision. I would love to see it if you feel up to making it available.

Something Weird looks like it was only on the VHS series The Sleaziest Movies in the History of the World which has an intro and outro by Joe Bob Briggs like when he did his The Movie Channel show Joe Bob's Drive-In Theater.

here's something to consider for whomever's a gatekeeper for that snap forum where all the monstervision is being traded:

after doing an HD upgrade to salem's lot, which i posted a couple weeks ago, i went ahead and did the same thing for two john carpenter movies: in the mouth of madness and christine.

i'd be more than willing to add these two titles to the HD upgrade collection, and in return...i'd like an invite to the forum.

please and thank you. Smile

nobody has gotten an invite for that forum since it was first mentioned

I've watched a few of the Monstervision remasters, and there's pretty severe frame rate issues with them tbh. Have a look at Alien3 to get an idea of what I mean, it is incredibly choppy. So far all the ones I've watched have had this problem to one degree or another. I think what's happened is that the editing software has aligned to the framerate of the JBB segments and then attempted a pulldown on the HD segments, but I could be wrong.
