(Aug 07, 2014, 15:47 pm)DavidTenn Wrote: In another thread NIK had suggested installing MalwareBytes to assist in locating problems. Never having used it I thought why not try it out. While there were no major issues found, it now reports 'Malicious Website Blocked' quite often when uTorrent is running. It does not seem to interfere with downloading or uploading so I was wondering if I should let it keep blocking them or create exceptions for them??? Some of the IP's are 218.9.178.77 // 98.142.251.247 // 212.117.167.52 // 109.163.230.167

Some of the connections are outbound and some are incoming. My gut feeling is to keep them blocked since it does not appear to have any effect on uTorrent. But, I thought I would ask and maybe learn something.

Thanks,

Go into Settings > Web Exclusions > Add Process and add the utorrent.exe

MalwareBytes is primarily built to defend your web browser while you're browsing. Torrent clients don't need that protection and it doesn't make any sense in their context. [You should scan what you've downloaded after you've completed downloading it and before you execute it, but you obtain it from a swam so the location from which you download a piece of it is irrelevant.]

Funny that you call it a "bug," since its purpose is not unintentional.

But thanks for the tip, nelly; I will consider downloading it again, the latest version.

What a Great Bunch of folks here!! Thanks for all of the help! NIK, I added the exclusion that you suggested and it is much less annoying. Even with all of the downloads that I have done, you are right - scan them, customize the install, and know who you are downloading from will keep you pretty safe...
