How to wipe an iphone 5 without an apple ID? - thelemonyremedy - Jun 29, 2014

i bought an iphone its been reset but it says its linked with previous owners icloud account i do not have the apple id or password . is there a way to unlink the phone to the old icloud account?

the pervious owner has to remove it from their account.

if it were an honest sale with a lapse of memory on part of the seller, this shouldn't be a problem.

if someone sold you an iphone that they stole or 'found', you're *****ed. apple won't unlock it for you without the proper credentials (solid, verifiable proof that the icloud account to which the device is registered is yours and you can prove it) and even then, it's very difficult.

the only exception that i know of is if the phone were a company phone that had an administrator profile installed in which case, the i.t. person can unlock it for you... but if it were a company phone, you are going to run into the same issue... apple won't unlock it without... blah, blah, blah.

you might want to google the serial number and see if someone's looking for it or something.

Yeah I bought it off Craigslist lol. I can't get in touch with the guy (of course) but I looked up the IEMI and it seems to be clear. It's just that it's locked through apple. I was wondering if anyone knew of software that could just wipe it without itunes.
