iPod: Alternative to iTunes? - TheEmpathicEar - Jul 15, 2014

[If there is already a thread for this, please point it out? I used a Microsoft Zune device that was either lost or stolen. The Zune software made it easy to sync. I just stored all my music in a folder, "My Music", for example, and "pointed" the Zune software to it and all was well. It would display all the artists, albums, songs, etc. All my music in the "My Music" folder is in a hierarchy: folder for artist, sub-folder for albums, etc.]

I bought an iPod Classic because of the storage capacity which was similar to my 120GB Zune. I installed iTunes and was immediately disappointed. It does not seem to process "My Music" the same way as the Zune software [or Windows Media Player for that matter].

Does anyone else have an iPod and are using some alternative to iTunes successfully? i.e. I think foobar might work, but I am not familiar with it.

What about Windows Media Player or Banshee: https://banshee.fm/

Code:
Play your music and videos. Keep up with your podcasts and Internet radio. Discover new music and podcasts. Keep your portable device loaded with good stuff.

Simple enough to enjoy. Powerful enough to thrill. Open source through and through.

And yes, there is a Windows version, if you have Windows, of course.

EDIT: And a Mac.

Anyhow, just look at this link: https://banshee.fm/download/

I did. The install for windows:
Quote:This release is a alpha-quality technology preview with many known bugs and deficiencies, including some obvious, glaring ones...
does not seem inspiring?

JetAudio Audio Application: https://www.jetaudio.com

NOTE: They don't mention any MP3 player synchronisation, but since they also sell hardware MP3 players, it should work. Tell me how it goes.

EDIT: And these as well: https://alternativeto.net/software/itunes/

Hope this helps.
