I know it's DVD DL, but would I be able to get any kind of DL DVD? I found DVD+R DL on the internet. Would these work?

For the most part yes. If you really want all the info on that I would suggest you go here. https://www.ixtreme.net/
They'll tell you on hardware replacements and firmware for the xbox and I think they do PS as well.

Does burning games for the newest LT3.0+ update still require a select group of DVD burners?

As far as the DVD Burners I would still think so and they did list the models. Just go to the site and they'll list the hardware.

By the way, Graphisoft, I think you can get Dual Layer DVDs just about anywhere in a franchise computer store. I don't have an XBOX360 and I use them to backup software that I downloaded (warez and gratis software).

Verbatim brand DLs are suggested. As for the burners for LT3 games - LiteOn ihas 124 B, LiteOn ihas 224 B, LiteOn ihas 324 B, LiteOn ihas 424 B, LiteOn ihas 524 B...there are some cross flash-able models, a google search may net some results. The LiteOn models are hard to find now, but you can also try the burnermax payload app.
