Why aren't magnets loaded? - ruf997tt - Aug 17, 2014 I have several systems that I download from and Bittorrent on all systems is configured the same, meaning all torrents and magnets go into the same directory (W7 share). I configured BT to load magnets from this common folder but when I load BT it only shows files to seed that have been d/l'ed by that individual system, not any stuff that has been d/l'ed by other systems. How can I get all files to seed that have been d/l'ed by all systems on any system that loads BT? Thanks. RE: Why aren't magnets loaded? - kjf - Aug 18, 2014 I guess that largely depends on whether or not any of those systems are running concurrently, or if they are guaranteed to only be run singly. While I appreciate the reply it didn't shed any light, for me, on the situation. No matter what system I run BT from there is but 1 common folder for all torrents and magnets. I have set all instances of BT on all systems to 'Load Magnets' from this common, shared folder so no matter which system I am running I can be seeding all files at the same time. Does this make it any clearer? RE: Why aren't magnets loaded? - NIK - Aug 18, 2014 Please post a screenshot of the BT page where you have configured it to "load magnets" from a folder. I'm not aware of any such configuration option nor can I comprehend how such a feature could possibly work (since magnet links are clicked on not downloaded) so I suspect you've misread something but I can't imagine what. RE: Why aren't magnets loaded? - kjf - Aug 18, 2014 I've just been presuming magnets to be misused here to mean a folder monitored for torrent files... Anyways, OP hasn't clearly stated if this shared folder is also where all settings are stored so what I am guessing is each system has it's own folder for settings and run state, so whichever client picks up the torrents or "magnets" also removes it from the watch folder so it isn't there for the next system to see. I know I'm guessing at a lot due to term misuse and lack of information on this collection of systems, client software, and configuration. In a nutsack, unless this collection of systems is sharing everything - data directory, watch directory, and configuration directory - what you are trying to do is not really possible. And if more than one of these systems is running at the same time, you'll have collision problems. Not to mention it wouldn't make much sense unless each system had it's own dedicated internet connection. RE: Why aren't magnets loaded? - ruf997tt - Aug 19, 2014 Sorry, what I have been calling magnets are stored as .torrents. Yes, sorry, .torrent is what I should have said, not magnet. No matter what system (all W7) I use BT to d/l to/from (depending on how you look at it) the files and .torrents end up in their respective common, shared folders. I don't see anything that remotely looks like being able to change where storing settings would be anyplace other than storing them locally, automatically. I also have no idea what this watch list is or even if it can be modified, edited, adjusted, whatever to make everything available for seeding from any system used. It just seems strange to me to have an option that says "Load .torrents from this directory" and then not do it. I appreciate the dialogue. To some small degree I am learning more about BT. RE: Why aren't magnets loaded? - NIK - Aug 20, 2014 OK, starting to get a better picture now. Bear with us while we collect some more information... I'm assuming the various computers you have running are all on the same LAN? In that case the cumulative up/download speeds you get will be identical to the speeds you would get torrenting from one machine. [They're limited by the bandwidth available to the router, as capped by your ISP.] Actually, because there will be contention and network congestion caused by the multiple computers all trying to use as much bandwidth as they individually can, the end result will actually be lower overall speeds. Not to mention the mental overhead of having to run such a setup. So...why are you trying to do things the way you seem to be? What is it you're trying to achieve? RE: Why aren't magnets loaded? - ruf997tt - Aug 20, 2014 (Aug 20, 2014, 02:11 am)NIK Wrote: OK, starting to get a better picture now. You are misunderstanding my setup and intent. I have ONE system that seeds 24/7. My ISP speed is 50/10 so I don't think that is really relevant. My router is a Netgear R7000 which is plenty fast. My seeding system is hardwired Gb to the router but when I want to d/l something I will likely use one of my AC1200 (867mbs connection) wireless laptops on my lanai or another hardwired desktop system. So the real issue is that unless I d/l using the seeding system I can't seed anything that has been d/l by another system except on the system that originally d/l'ed it. The seeding system never sees what has been d/l'ed from other systems even though files and .torrents are going into local, common, shared folders on the seeding system. As I am typing this I am wondering if I have to occasionally stop seeding and reload BT to have it read the .torrent directory. Just tried that and it didn't change anything. RE: Why aren't magnets loaded? - kjf - Aug 20, 2014 It really shouldn't make a difference, but you have the save torrents and load torrents as the same path. That could be creating some confusion. That could be creating some confusion. That actually makes perfect sense to me. However in playing around I found that all I have to do is use the 'Add torrent...' under file and that quickly adds the torrent to the seeding process. I think this closes the case and I sincerely thank you for your assistance. |
