Im lookimn for a bootable win7 disk - aplanedoctor - Sep 19, 2015

Any idea where I might be able to obtain such a thing as described in the title ? My HDD crashed out on my laptop and I replaced it with new, but I got the comp second maybe 3rd hand so I have no restore discs. Its an HP dv4 that originally came with vista. It had win8 when I got it, but I switched it to win7 and the disk I have wont boot

Just download a Windows 7 ISO from The Pirate Bay, burn it on disc using Nero or Imgburn, and boot it from there by restarting your computer and put it in a DVD drive.

All Windows 7 discs are bootable.

Well the one I downloaded from the bay, isn't working. I get told, no bootable device----insert boot disk and press any key. Any suggestions?

I'll try not to assume anything, so I'll need to ask some questions.

Do you or do you not tell BIOS to boot from the disc drive first? Do that if not.

Does your computer have Secure Boot? If so/if not, change it from the previous option. You should probably write this down to remind yourself to change it later if it doesn't work.

Try those. I don't want to give you the impression that I am belittling you. If that impression has come across, I offer my apologies.

For us to help you, please tell us about the situation as much as you can.

when using Image burn never write a OS faster then 6x.
That will corrupt the image.

Also set your Computer bios to boot from a cd, or dvd first.
