can't get peers - Justalex - Mar 17, 2016

Hi! My problem is that my mtorrent(3.4.5) doesn't see peers since I have downloaded a torrent (magnet link) though on the Pirate Bay site there are indicated many seeders. What could be the solution of this problem, please?

Try a .torrent vs. a magnetic link. I've been having an odd problem myself with a very stable rtorrent client.

The information you provided are ambiguous.

Justalex Wrote:Hi! My problem is that my mtorrent(3.4.5)

It's mTorrent or uTorrent? (mTorrent is an android movies streamer, latest version being 2.4; unless he's using another not well known client)

Justalex Wrote:doesn't see peers

What do you mean? You mean it doesn't retrieve peers from tracker?

Justalex Wrote:on the Pirate Bay site there are indicated many seeders

TPB seed/leech stats are not accurate enough to know if a torrent is well seeded or dead. Especially since udp://tracker.openbittorrent.com:80/announce gone offline

TPB provides only magnet links.

μTorrent 3.4.5 on my notebook, windows7
there are no peers(seeders) in my mtorrent for the indicated torrent for the whole day

Port congestion? Try changing port on uTorrent.

I can download from other trackers, the problem's only with magnet links

RE: can't get peers - dolly_cat - Mar 17, 2016

When you use magnet links, the torrent is download from the swarm. This process can take up to 5 mins depending on your connection and on how many seeds does the swarm have (if the swarm is dead and the trackers don't have the torrent cached, it will never download)

The simpliest way would be to reinstall uTorrent and be patient on magnet links.

If you are having problems specifically with magnet links from TPB, then you are likely using a client with no UDP support, or your system is blocking UDP connections.

To use TPB's magnet links, your client needs to support DHT and/or UDP trackers, both of which require the ability to make outgoing UDP connections.

Other sites use magnet links or torrents with HTTP trackers in them, which is why the work for you.
