Completely remove Ms Office 2016 - plaincollar - Dec 16, 2016

Hi
By some reason Windows Update start living it's own life and installed Microsoft update as well despite it was blocked. It led to the message that I had an invalid copy etc.
Now I've removed the hole package with Revo Uninstaller Pro and tryed to hunt every Office part down.
Is that enough or do I need any particular tool to make sure that nothing is left which will create problem when I install a new copy?

BTW, any Office torrent you can recommend?

Thanks in advance//Plaincollar

Should be.

If Windows Update is troubling you, turn it off, as in turn off the automatic updates.

I don't use Office, but I would use MS Office 2007; it's all you need.

EDIT: This is not a "buy if you like" recommendation or some stupid shit like that, but head to a store, look at every type of Office package to see what fits you, and then download the torrent. Personally, I prefer Openoffice or Libreoffice, but that's me and not you. You need to do some research on what Office package suits you, no one can tell you what you need.

Hope this helps.

Hi
Thanks for your advice. The only parts I actually need are Ms Words and Ms Outlook (not Outlook.com). So I think I have to go for some business edition at least. And why not use a later edition, even if 2007 would be enough?

Go for a later version.

My mother uses 2007 because it's good for her. I'm not going to say "what's good for the goose," because everything is different for everyone.

You need to find out what you need.

Just reformat your hard drive and remove Windows.

Good choices, that's what I use too, but I suspect that it isn't the answer OP is looking for.

You see, GNU/Linux isn't for everyone; it's not exactly a quick fix to an immediate problem.

If you want to use any GNU/Linux OS, not only do you need to be prepared to make a big commitment in learning it, you also need to change your philosophies. plaincollar is, as I imagine, a Windows user, and mostly, Windows users are pretty reluctant to making a grandiose switch like that. I should know; I was once a Windows-only user.

I got into Linux Mint and it worked for me, but, again, the OP is a Windows user, whatever bleeds it leads. Remember, Windows is not meant to make sense, it's meant to make dollars.

If you're going to recommend such things, just leave him alone.

Thanks for all replies and Mr X, you are so right. Actually, I also installed an early version of Office for my mom. The older gen prefer to recognise their interface or "picture". I'm a little ahead so I like developement . But as you mention, that is PC evolution. My knowledge about Linux i extends approx as far as a rope.... Thanks Mindcrasher but I think I pass. And to format the current hhd is one step to far (I hope). To much to recover.
To sum up; I've done as much as I have to and next step is to reinstall Ms Office 2016 and assume all keys and other trace from earlier Office are gone.

Best regards//plain*****llar
