Hello Folks Smile

This Thread About To Check Movie Torrent Preview Without Full Download. Means You Can Check Movie Without Completing Full Download, So You Can Clarify To Complete Download If True Or Else Delete It If Fake To Save Bandwidth.

As you know everyday or after a little while or long while Fakers & Scammers jump on torrenting site to spread fake codec/fake movies in torrents. (This happened too many times in past. Most of Popular torrenting sites are Witness) This method can help you to check and make sure about movie codec & material without full download.

First Of All Do This Change Into Your utorrent Or Bittorrent Client Settings.

- Click > Preference Or Press Ctrl+P > Click On > Advanced (From Left Side Listed Options) Click > Advanced.
- Now Move Your Pointer Inside the Value box & Scroll Down And Find this Value > bt.prio_first_last_piece.

1. Click On > bt.prio_first_last_piece
2. Select > True (It Is False By Default)
3. Click > Apply
4. Click > OK
5. Exit utorrent/Bittorent From System Tray > YES
6. Restart utorrent/Bittorent > Enjoy!

See Below On Screenshot: Where is that Value located.

1. After you made changes & restarted torrent client.
2. Now Pick Any Movie Torrent You Want To Check It's fake or real & Start Download.
3. Once It Reaches To 15% Or Above. Stop Downloading Torrent.
4. Right Click On Selected Torrent Then click > Open Containing Folder.
5. See How To Open Contaning Folder:

6. Now Play The Movie File from folder With VLC Or K-Lite Codec Pack. VLC Media recommended.

Remember: If VLC asks you to repair contain file? You can press Repair. Recommended > Don't Repair.

On Screenshot you can see movie file played 30 second and it can still play to above 40 second. i stopped downliading at 26% that's why it can play above 40 second. so if you stop downloading at 15% then it could play 10 second or less according to runtime 2 hours. You must stop downloading at 20% if movie runtime is above 2 hours. under 2 hours movies would be good to stop at 15%. and you must stop downloading at 50% if you're downloading DVD with .VOB files.

Advantage: To doing this trick?

- If movie is fake then you can see ''Download Codec'' or ''Watch movie at xxxxxxx bla bla bla at screen when it starts.
- If movie is original than you can see at-least starting and every first movie scene.

Remember: This guide stick to fake Movies. Fake movies don't have Sample into the folder. so do not complaint about Sample check.

Despite being a Vuze user, I find the meat of your tutorial relevant to my use of TPB. At times I am restricted to a spotty back country wifi connection, so the speeds are terrible. It's quite frustrating leaving my Bitclient up and running for several hours for a new episode or a movie file, only to discover that the quality is shoddy once finished. Being able to preview a file after only a few Megabytes would save days of downtime while I'm using my potato wifi.

I have been left quite perplexed by the tutorial. (I have, what I consider to be, a basic understaning of p2p file sharing so please bear with me)

In essence, when downloading a file I'm actually downloading tiny pieces of the file from many many different users across the world through the Bitclient. These pieces come in randomly and the bitclient arranges them to make sense.

Would these settings actually prioritize the order in which the Bitclient allows the pieces to come in, no longer picking up pieces randomly? Is it actually possible in the first place, if not?

Thanks Smile

Yes and no.

Your basic understanding is correct. A typical movie will be divided into approximately 1200 pieces and your torrent client downloads in basically random order.

The settings above will cause the first and last pieces to be downloaded first, and then the remaining 1198 pieces will download in random order. That is important because the first and last pieces contain not just bits of the video but also general information about the basic structure of the file.

Most video players start playing the first piece and then, when they come across a missing piece, stop. That's a reasonable design choice because generally speaking people don't want to watch movies with bits missing.

VLC is different. It is specifically designed to play incomplete or damaged files. It starts playing the first piece and when it comes to a missing piece it keeps looking a bit further to see if it can find some more good pieces to play.

So by changing the settings as above you will be able to play the movie before it completes downloading. Obviously you cannot play what you don't have so you do need to download a reasonable percentage first. Sometimes you will get lucky and with as little as 5% you will be able to play enough to see that it is legit. Other times you may need to download quite a bit more.

[It is also possible, using a different method, to have your torrent client download ALL pieces in sequential order but that significantly extends the time the download will take and increases the risk of it not completing. With spotty wifi to begin with that is something you definitely should not do.]
