How do I add a subtitle to a video file so it shows up in mediainfo?

This is not the first time you have replied with advice totally at odds with reality.

That you apparently want to help is commendable.

But if you really do want to help, put in some time reading replies and building up your knowledge. Don't be so quick to jump in with answers yourself until you really are sure of what you're talking about. At the very least, if you are going to reply, modify your phrasing so that it is clear to the people asking the questions (who obviously don't know the answers themselves and so are therefore easily misled) that you're not entirely certain.

[Just to be clear, this is not a modcall or an official admin warning, it is advice from an experienced pirate to an inexperienced one who I assume wants to learn and genuinely help people.]

i've been using the latest MKVToolNix and it's working well for me.

I think you may try to merge subtitle and video into one file, then you don't need to add subtitles every time in player?
