Little Help

So I've seen request go unanswered many times, and I always seem to find goofy little games, and never have the money to pay for them. Anyone know of a good place to find information on how to go about cracking license keys?

I've just noticed you jumped on the suprbayrequest chan earlier. One option would be to bump the request you made in the game requests forum back in January, to bring attention to it.

It's also for a completely different game, but i did forget all about that request Tongue

Although the one I requested a crack for happens to be remote authentication, while the one I'm working on now is local. The remote one might actually be simpler to do.

You might not like my answer, but there really isn't an easy way of achieving what you're looking for: cracking software copy protection systems. Are there online communities focused on this topic? Yes. Will they help you if you can't contribute in any way? No. Why? Because honestly, there's no way anyone could quickly teach you about cracking, since there's so much that you need to learn.

I know that this gets posted over and over again and it frustrates people, but I'm still going to repeat it: learn how computers work (processor and memory), learn assembly programming, learn about the Windows API (I assume you want to crack Windows apps), learn how to work with a disassembler, a debugger and other tools. Having good programming knowledge in a/several high-level language(s) will also be of tremendous help (heck, it's even mandatory, come to think of it).

If you start from scratch (no programming knowledge), it will take you a couple of years to learn all of that, depending on how serious you are about it. And no, coding for 30-40 minutes a day, 2-3 days a week won't cut it. Also, blindly following tutorials on removing CD checks and bypassing simple protection schemes won't really be of any help.

That has to be the best, most polite and informative response to, as mentioned above. A question that is repeatedly asked. Good stuff outta you esharoth for not taking any high ground Wink

While informative, much of it I do have familiarity with, although I'm horrible at actually coding, I'm usually able to at least understand written code (it's odd I can't write code but I can read it). I've been trying to learn how to use dissemblers and debuggers i've used several times in the past.

A place to learn and fill in the gaps in my knowledge would be what I'm looking for, seeing as I'm a bit tired of waiting for someone with the skills already to develop interest in cracking some of the games I'd like cracked.

In all honesty all I have is time, and the ability to read code, those two alone should be enough to get me pointed in the right direction, but I know the upper level community is tight lipped and always have been.

Thanks for the information though.

Sadly the game I was attempting to crack seems to have just been abandoned, the site is down, and now there is no way to purchase it. I'll up a torrent of the unlockable demo version if I still have the installer.
