It was never intended for it to actually be "The Mads" from MST3K, in character, doing it. Trace and Frank tour as a brand now called "The Mads". That's it. It's just them as real people.

I listened to most of the podcast (I'd skip episodes where they discuss movies I haven't seen) and enjoyed it, but it was definitely just an off-the-cuff discussion. Nothing was really written-out or planned. If any organization was done, I'm sure Carolina probably did it all. Not something I'll really miss, but I enjoyed it while it lasted.

Sums it up perfectly

I think looking back on it what made me eventually lose interest was the three of them seeming to have basic facts wrong or not know especially much about the movies they watched. It made for a frustrating listen. I’m not exactly a cinematic encyclopedia and I’m fine with off the cuff, but maybe a little bit of research or preparation would have helped.

That's a pretty good summation of why I don't listen to podcasts. It's pretty much always like sitting and having a conversation with friends, but they get everything wrong, can't remember basic things, and you're not allowed to speak to them, correct anything, or move the conversation along. It's more frustrating than enjoyable in a lot of cases.

it's weird because I simultaneously agree with the last couple posts while also thinking they're too harsh. I think maybe it varies a bit from episode to episode. For every one where they forget to talk about the movie or Frank bloviates, there's one where they show a deep knowledge of film or turn me on to movies I'd never heard of before (like the film that Trace said scared him most as a *****, an interesting oddity called 'The Next Voice You Hear').

@kkt you bring up a great point that I had forgotten!  Trace and (mostly) Frank's off-topic tangents talking about older movies that I was never going to hear about otherwise got me downloading a bunch of classics to my collection...probably at least 50 movies that I can say directly came from their recommendations.  This podcast definitely had it's flaws but I could always count on learning a few new things from them each episode.

One of Frank's recommendations that I truly enjoyed is 'Odds Against Tomorrow' which in my opinion is an example of a good movie that could also be riffed.
