I'm glad you did it - besides all our terrible help attempts (ôô)
Transporting one at a time is too much trouble for more than a couple files, specially if your destination is on the other story of the house.
Of course you can carry the notebook to the PC desk, but then you could use a cable, a smartphone, or a portable hard drive... I'm sure you would if available.
Next time, and for anyone reading it,
- Windows Network Assistant;
- Windows Easy Transfer, works with CDs, USB cable direct, USB flash drive, etc - in Start/Accessories/System tools (Vista/Seven).
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help...gs-from-on
- Windows Remote Desktop or Remote Assistance, if you manage to connect the network - if not, you'll go by Internet at your service speed/data plan;
- TeamViewer, Wifi File Transfer Plus, WinS*****, FileZilla, CuteFTP or any other file/network tool you test and like; not sure about Mobizen and Joiku;
- DropBox, Gdrive, OneDrive, or any upload service;
- DLNA, but won't fit all scenarios and are usually difficult to set up. In my experience Bluetooth is slow and unreliable.
Anyway, you can set one of them (PCs/notebooks) to act as a personal hotspot - again there're many apps to do that. Ostoto was my favorite but disappeared.
