Sorry about your dog.
thank you for saying that. Im out and recovering. Two weeks now. Its a slow roll but even the surgeons say its borderline miracle it went as well as it did. Now I just need to find time to grieve for my boy, while at the same time try and heal from having my face removed. Thanks again! You're far too kind.
I have never loved/hated anyone's avatar as much as I love/hate your new one. Oi, i worked hard on that one!
You're the first to notice . Just trying ***** man glad to see you're doing better! Much appreciated mate! The healing is going slower than expected but at least it's going forward. Still a big iffy if the tissue will hold.

I know its rare for any of us in the group to be open at all with our lives, but considering how this past year went for me, from losing my service dog/partner of 11½ years while dying, then surviving a crazy life saving surgery and hearing such an outpouring of support and compassion from everyone here, i thought it only fitting that I post an update.
These past few months, I've been miserable without my boy. He was a true life mate. Even the missus agrees she can never compete with the love I had for and from him. Well today, an opportunity presented itself and ... I need help giving this ankle biter a proper name.. I'm open to suggestions

How about Noggin? =) Looks like a very good boy, congrats! Hey, I like that! So far all the names I've heard are rather straight forward but Noggin, that's a bright one!
Ok so the names in the lead are:
"Reese"
"Sergent" that was a name i thought of a year ago when I was trying to just think of names people don't often give their *****. before any of this shite had gone down.)
"Butters"
"Bowie"
and
"Reiley"
and now Noggin!
I was expecting MST3K or riffrax references but you immediately surprised me with that one mate!

First off, I'm glad you're well. Spectacular.
Also glad you've found a new right-hand dog. I'm still mourning my last.
Finally, I just gotta write it 'cause it's a bizarre coincidence. I'm only the most casual David Bowie fan; I own his greatest hits album, and I literally haven't listened to it in years. But I DID just buy tickets to an upcoming Saigon Kick concert featuring their Water album, and I was JUST listening to their cover of Space Oddity when I read Bowie's one of the names you're considering above. Just a funny coincidence. Maybe it means nothing. Maybe it means something.
So glad 5 months have made such a difference. Again, cheers.

That's pretty great! So far, there have been some weird coincidences with this pup. First, my boy's name was Hank. This pup's name that the Animal society gave him was....Henry.
and minutes ago I had the startling realization, as I was reviewing the adoption papers, his adoption date was Nov 8th, Hank's Birthday. It was strange that it's the 1st time I forgot it as well. I feel guilty about that. I always meant to give him a memorial but my recovery from brain surgery was so tough that I felt I missed a beat by not being able to do that soon after his passing. Every Birthday I made sure it was a memorable affair and that he enjoyed and knew it was special. I guess in this regard I've somewhat maintained that tradition.
Now I just need to agree on a name.
Bowie seems like it's winning votes.
I'll give it a full day before I lock in on one. I also like names that can be shortened so Bowie would be Bo etc.
The missus wants me to pick something smart and amusing. I dunno about that.

Bo sounds like a great name. It reminds me of Rock pioneer Bo Diddley. My rescue cat Flaco is my constant companion. Management here in the Senior living complex I'm in considers him a support animal and doesn't charge extra rent for him like they do with regular pets. I've had two other greatly beloved cats pass in the last three years and still miss them every day and night. Those who have never experienced that bonding will never understand what they mean to our lives, especially to those of us with serious health issues. Glad to see your life is getting back on track.
