Has anyone played Outlast PC. This game was freaking creepy. If anyone else has played this please give your input. Do you think it may be the scariest game ever (next to Silent Hill 1 on PS), like some of us do? I found this game to be epic scary. The way you use a camera for night vision, and men/creatures just POP out at you. What do you guys think?
PLOT/SYNOPSIS
In the remote mountains of Colorado, horrors wait inside Mount Massive Asylum. A long-abandoned home for the mentally ill, recently re-opened by the “research and charity” branch of the transnational Murkoff Corporation, has been operating in strict secrecy…until now. Acting on a tip from an inside source, independent journalist Miles Upshur breaks into the facility and what he discovers walks a terrifying line between science and religion, nature and something else entirely. Once inside, his only hope of escape lies with the terrible truth at the heart of Mount Massive.

FEAR 1 was great! It was a crazy scary game. This game however, has it beat IMO. This game leaves you wanting to turn on the lights, but in your seat enough to where you do not want to get up. Totally worth the play.

FEAR.
Amnesia was scary, but more in a confused way.
Silent Hill also was scary, but got to be annoying after a while.
Games may try to shock you, stunt or startle you, but no game was ever as blood-curling as FEAR.

Clock Tower!
I played the original version on the Super Nintendo via the ZSNES Emulator.
Nothing in the game world scares me per se, but if I had to pick a game on gunpoint, I would pick Clock Tower.

The thing I noticed is that FEAR was scarier than Outlast in a different way. Outlast is scarier than FEAR in a different way. Both scary, but each differently. FEAR was that 1st person, assault style, guns blazing against soldiers, while creeping in the dark type of game. Outlast, this game is scary because you cannot fight back against the enemy. You must hide from them, out smart them. Running from a big guy in the dark with glowing green eyes through night vision on a camcorder while your repeatedly looking behind you only to see him coming closer and closer, well, that's just nuts. Anmesia, yes that game was great (especially a Machine for Pigs), but it was not scary. It was more psychological and creepy, not really 'scary'. Outlast and FEAR do have the tie for 1st, with Outlast a little bit ahead of that race for me.

Can you say that Resident Evil, in a minimalist sort of way, qualifies as a horror game?

maybe not a scary game, but the zombies groans in System Shock 2 always gave me the hibbie jibbies when you know you're low on ammo and they can hurt you good.
