It’s just a different kind of crappy. Solo was a perfect example of what I don’t like about Star Wars now. Every. Single. Detail. has to have a history or backstory that will eventually get explained. Nothing remains a mystery.
Rise of Skywalker is the capper to a trilogy of movies that were completely squandered. I normally am good about ignoring plot holes and things like that when I’m watching and all caught up in the movie but it was impossible with this one. But where Solo was a movie of explaining everything you didn’t need to know, this movie has plenty of things that aren’t clear or make no sense that I’m sure will get explained to death someday in mediocre books and comics. All three were such a depressing waste.
All the stuff they can do in movies nowadays and they can’t recapture the magic of those first three.
It would be professional malpractice if Rifftrax doesn’t do this one.

But they didn’t explain EVERYTHING! How will we know where Han Solo™ got his famous boots?! We’re going to have to wait for Disney’s™ Star Wars™: Solo™: A Star Wars™ Story: Solo™: A Star Wars™ Prequel for them to show us where he bought those space boots.

I was always sad when they didn’t do riffs of sequels flopbusters. Why Ocean’s 11 but not 12 or 13? Why Jurassic Park but not Lost World or III? They did both World and World II: Electric Deinonaloo! And they only did Dark Knight, not the first or third. I’m thinking that Mike’s Bane impression would be great. Only Casino Royale (none of the sequels), only Raiders and Skull, only Pirates 1… I could go on. What they really need is a sympathetic studio executive allowing them to put the riffs on physical copies of the real films. Didn’t they stop doing modern films just because of piracy?

I agree, it's unfortunate. I'd die happy if they ever decided to do all the classic Trek movies.

it looks like as of today there are HD webrips available, which means the blu-ray should only be a couple weeks away. in the past rifftrax has been pretty quick about getting the riffs out soon after the blu-ray release, so hopefully we get this riff as soon as april

Classic?
You mean as far as age?
I remember one good one.
Ever.
They should do the first one though.
Its got the right kind of classic era visual feel,
but without any watchable attributes other then that.
Thats EXACTLY what a Rifftrax is for.
A Rifftrax can fix that.
I've often wondered if they have the power to fix prometheus.
But you might need a rifftrax from Galactus himself to do that.

I enjoyed watching it. It was the dumb cheesy disappointment I expected it to be. But it's one of the only Abbrams thing I haven't totally hated. It's just as unoriginally derivative as Force Awakens, but I didn't groan quite as much, and it's a bit less boring and predictable. I agree with JetJaguar's review. If you were expecting anything better, then you don't know JJ Abbrams. I'm actually downright surprised I didn't outright hate it. It did have some tension and good surprises. Both Daisy R and Adam D deliver solid performances, as do the original cast members. Some bad dialogue, rushed characterization, and a dumb plot - but fun to watch. I actually found the journey of self discovery and redemption of our two ***** leads over this new trilogy to be surprisingly compelling.

But you have to put Star Wars in its perspective.
In retrospect if you look at it now,
its not perfect.
I guess.
It got that spielbergian saccharine humor.
Walking carpet...
But what was before it?
You've seen it a thousand times over and and over AFTER Star Wars,
but what could you compare Star Wars to BEFORE Star Wars.
Maybe Flash Gordon?
But Star Wars was anything Flash Gordon did through the roof.
What does jj abrams add?
To anything?
It kind of bothered me,
when it was either jj abrams or his defenders who said,
"How can you like Star Wars and not like the jj abrams star wars?
When there's no difference."
Basically admitting, but trying not to say it, that jj abrams just copy pasted everything from Star Wars.
So its "the same thing" as Star Wars.
Just one example of pretty much everything about what jj abrams does that bothers me.
