Joe Bob Goes to the Drive-In
by Joe Bob Briggs
I don't remember seeing this book up here. Apologies that PDF is all I got. Still, a fun read. Enjoy, mutants.

“Two Special Guests”
Noooooo, why can’t it be just Joe Bob anymore? I tune in for his funny and informative take. Monstervision and the first couple seasons of TLDI felt like hanging out and having a beer with your cool uncle who knows a ton about movies. The constant revolving door of guests and increased presence of Darcy feels like notes from Shudder/AMC to me.

Someone (not me) has been posting Joe Bob tier films on Rumble. --- Note: These are not Monstervisions or The Last drive in, just the films --- I clicked around and many of them are HD. I think you folks will dig it.

I will try and get copies and give a Mega link once they are available on demand on Shudder, which is usually Sunday.

Maybe it's just me, but this doesn't bother me at all. There WERE guests from time to time on Monstervision, as those always felt like exciting episodes. But also, the Monstervision segments by their very nature were much shorter than TLDI segments, so they really only had time for brief moments of JBB talking, not the same level of skits they can do now. I think the version of TLDI we have now is just an evolution of the format, and I think any show that runs a long time will and should evolve. I'm also totally okay with Darcy being more of a comedic foil sidekick for JBB...a bunch of regional horror hosts had sidekicks like this. I also think in a post-internet era, where Joe Bob teaching us about the movie isn't AS unique as it once was (since we can noe easily find a lot of this info online, too, which wasn't the case in the Monstervision days), it's probably more necessary to amp up the "show" elements.
