Why are a CAMRip been allowed to be post under HD Category?

I just don't get how they can be 1080 px hd for a CAMRIP Movies!.And why are they allowed to be posted under The HD Movies Category Undecided

I remember this being discussed in another thread... If I remember correctly, if a handheld camera can record at an HD resolution, then it would be acceptable as an HD camrip.

I know what you are saying, camrips are not as good as studio releases, but again, the HD is just the record quality of the camera capturing it.

I wish I could remember the thread where this was explained better.

Yea, people have asked questions about it ever since the first HDCam came out.

HD stands for the resolution used and in some cases, what codecs are used. It never defined the final quality.
HD has changed over the course of it's life. Most say that HD is 1080 only, but some manufacturers go as low as 720i (which is what HD-Ready used to be I believe) when they define something as HD. For example, the Xbox 360 is a HD-gaming system, but it only outputs ~960p most of the time (there are a few games that are full 1080p).
