No. You don't need to add any trackers at all.

Then what are trackers used for?

There are traditional trackers and DHT, which both do the same thing - allow your client to find other peers in the swarm.
Before DHT, traditional trackers were absolutely necessary. Now that all modern clients have DHT support, they can be omitted. There are a few edge cases where they might still come in handy, but unless you are in the habit of downloading older obscure torrents, you don't need to worry about them.

@caca you can add atleast 10 trackers on the torrent while creating a torrent to upload it or no one could download it without the trackers..
Trackers are just medium to share our files, you can also read the above information given by Moe

your advise contradicts what moe said.

Distributed Hash Table (AKA DHT) replace trackers usage, even when creating a torrent, you can create one without trackers, if both parties have DHT enabled it will do its job and connect you to other peers, and vice versa, you'll just have to provide the torrent hash or the proper magnet link to other users, in order for them to connect to your, and you to them.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BitTorrent_tracker Quote:Since the creation of the distributed hash table (DHT) method for "Trackerless" torrents, BitTorrent trackers have largely become redundant, however, they are still often included with torrents to improve the speed of peer discovery. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Distributed_hash_table https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kademlia

i hear the TPB removes all the trackers you add anyway and replaces them with their own trackers...

If you are stubbornly attached to including trackers when you create torrents, 3 or 4 will suffice. TPB does not provide a torrent download option anymore. All that is available are magnet links, and those always include the same trackers, regardless of what trackers were in the torrent file itself. |
